Here are some very important things you need to know about Darma

DARMA HAS A NEW FAMILY OF HER VERY OWN IN ROANOKE, VA!

Breed mix: Scorkie (Scottish Terrier/Yorkie)

Color:  Black

Approximate age/birthdate:  DOB 8 26 2012

Weight/size: 10 lbs

Housebroken:  about 90% (sometimes she piddles on the way to the door if you wait too long to take her out)

Crate trained:   YES

Personality:  Sweet, happy, a little dynamo with a great outlook on life

Energy level:  High - Super High

Fenced yard required?:   Yes (no exceptions)

Does he/she jump fences?  No

Leash walk:  Walks great on a leash

Obedience training/knows any commands?:  Working on ‘sit’ –comes when called

Riding in vehicles:  Rides well

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  Loves other dogs – wants to play with all of them but she is a bit rough.  She will steal their toys, run between their legs if they're taller than her, and she wants them to play non-stop with her.  Her energy may be overwhelming for a more laid back dog. A working dog may perceive her non-stop activity as prey.

Social with cats:  Wants to play with the cats, but she’s too rough for most of them

Good with children:  She likes children but her energy may be a bit too much for young children.  Having older children to play fetch with her would be great to help her run off some energy

Adoption donation:  $200

Other important things you need to know about Darma:

Darma was purchased from a pet store and when she was 5 months old she was hit by a car.  She had some serious injuries to her left rear leg.  She did not, however, get immediate vet care.  A couple of weeks after the injury she came into rescue and went immediately for surgery on the injured leg.  It will never be 100% but she does have use of the leg and she has done well with her recovery, including physical therapy.  SHE doesn’t have a clue anything is wrong with the leg and it doesn’t slow her down one bit.

Darma is an absolute love bug!  She’s very smart and she needs a family who will make sure she gets plenty of exercise every day and lots of love.  She has so much energy, if she does not get a lot of attention and exercise, she will become a real challenge.  She is little and cute, but she is definitely NOT just a little lap dog!  She will do best with an experienced dog family who takes obedience training and doggy exercise seriously.  She is not a little couch potato!  She will be an absolute joy for the right family who is willing to invest some time and love in her!

If you think Darma might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.   Please review our adoption process at http://www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/info/adoption and contact us if you have questions about the process.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your reference checks are completed and your application is tentatively approved, we will schedule a home visit and a meet-and-greet to see if Darma picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption contract to be signed and a requested adoption donation.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com or call 434 841 0411 or 540 297 1590 if you have additional questions.
