Hi … my name is Joy and here are some things you need to know about me:
Can you believe I was in 'doggy jail'? I think I had a family once, but no one came to find me. Foster Mom says 'It's their loss' ... whatever that means. I try to be a very good girl, and most of the time I do OK, but sometimes I get really rowdy when I have other rowdy friends to play with. And cats just bring out the worst in me. Sorry.
This sweet girl is so much fun to be around. She’s playful, sweet, snuggly, loveable … and some days she even listens well. She’s a very smart girl and learns quickly. She has a little shar-pei stubborn streak but she really does care whether her people are happy or not ... until she sees a cat ... or a squirrel ... or a deer ... anything that feels she must chase and eliminate. She’s mostly good with her foster siblings … although she can be a bit 'selective' when meeting new dogs. She’s pretty even-tempered but she could definitely hold her ground if somebody else started something. An experienced dog person and some obedience classes will do wonders to polish up this diamond-in-the-ruff!
Approximate age/birthdate: born ~2014
Weight/size: 45 lbs
Crate trained: YES … but she HATES being crated and will be very vocal about it
Personality: happy, sweet, loving, playful
Energy level: medium/high … she’s part lab so she’s a perpetual puppy
Fenced yard required?: YES (no exceptions) … must be a physical fence. She needs a place to safely run and play off-leash to work off energy and she has a very high prey drive. She will run off chasing deer, rabbits, squirrels ... the neighbor's cats ... etc.
Does he/she jump fences? NO
Leash walk: YES
Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ … she’s very smart and learns new things quickly
Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Social with other dogs: YES for the most part. She must be slowly and properly introduced to new dogs.
Social with cats: NO CATS ... she has a high prey drive and will do harm to cats
Good with children: Children over 10. Her size and energy might prove to be too much for younger children.
Adoption donation: $175
If you think Joy might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Joy picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
