YAY!  SANDY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

Hi … my name is Sandy and here are some things you need to know about me:

Housebroken:  Mostly … she has had a long history of UTIs

Personality:  sweet, fun, happy, loving

Obedience training:  Will usually come when called

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Social with other dogs:  YES … avoids bigger dogs

Social with cats: YES … she will bark, but most of the cats are bigger than her so she’s a little afraid of them

Good with children: Will probably be OK with older, respectful children and children must be responsible to support her dietary restrictions

Sandy is just a doll baby and she has the cutest face ever.  We're not sure exactly what breed mix she is but could be chihuahua and long-hair dachshund.  Whatever she is, she really needs an extra-special, amazing family!  Apparently she lived much of her life being very loved, but the story was that her owners had passed away and their caretakers just couldn’t take care of them any longer.  We’ve learned that she had bladder surgery in 2013, but her caretakers did not do the correct follow-up care after her surgery.  When she came to us she had a urinary tract infection, and when all the symptoms didn’t resolve after antibiotics, we knew there was something more. X-rays confirmed our guess that she once again had bladder stones … a whole bladder FULL of them.

Sandy has had surgery to remove her bladderstones and is feeling much better.  She has also lost weight … from 13 lbs down to 11 lbs.  She plays now and she is happy because she feels better.

Sandy’s new family must be willing to make a huge commitment to her health.  Bladderstones will reform if she is not kept exclusively on a specific prescription dog food.  No other treats, no table food … she absolutely may not eat anything other than this food.  And she must have bottled, distilled water.  This is not hard to do, but it is necessary to eliminate pain and suffering from her life.  She has been so happy and playful since she has been on this food and especially after she had her surgery.  Prior to surgery she was urinating frequently and it was oftentimes blood-tinged … but now it is not.
