About Lennie

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog

Lennie is celebrating Christmas 2015 with her new forever family!  What a Christmas miracle for the sweet girl.  Happy life little girl.

Hi … my name is Lennie and here are some things you need to know about me:

Approximate age/birthdate:  ~2013

Weight/size: 10 pounds

Housebroken:  YES

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  timid, reserved, sweet, wants to be loved

Energy level:  low

Fenced yard required?:   YES … if she gets spooked she will run away, so the fence is for her security

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk:  YES

Obedience training:  NO

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats: Has not been with cats in her foster home, but she might even be afraid of them.

Good with children:  She would be terrified of a lot of activity and noise, especially with younger children.  She would probably be better with older, respectful children who would be more calm with her.

Adoption donation: $175

Lennie’s breed mix is a real mystery … she is long and low like a dachshund.  Her hair is wiry and curly … like a dachshund or poodle or some other wire-haired terrier.  Her foster mom calls her the ‘camo dog’ because her color blends in with the fallen leaves!  She came to AAMR with some skin issues on her back that may be flea allergies.  She is doing better with regular bathing with skin soothing shampoos and a good quality food with no grains.

Lennie is super sweet and very timid.  It takes her a little while to warm up, but once she trusts you, she becomes a Velcro dog.  She follows her foster dad everywhere and cries when she can’t see him.

Lots of noise and activity make her even more nervous, so we think she will do best in a calm, low-key household.  She gets along fine with other dogs so having another small or medium sized dog in the home who is confident and balanced might be really good for her.  She would probably be fine with a cat that didn’t try to scare her!

If you think Lennie might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Lennie picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com or call 434 841 0411 or 540 297 1590 if you have additional questions.
