About Harley

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with Brown, Red, Golden, Orange or Chestnut

Hi … my name is Harley and I want to find a new home and a family of my very own.  I’m still pretty young … I was born in Jan or Feb 2013, but I got bounced around to a LOT of different places because my owner didn’t stay in one place very long.  I was never really sure that anybody loved me because I got fussed at a lot just for being a puppy.

I wear my cute face most of the time!  My foster mom thinks I look like I have some Yorkie mixed with some other kind of terrier mixed in.  I’m about 15 pounds now, and probably won’t get a lot bigger.

I am happy to go outside to go potty, but sometimes I still have an accident in my crate. My foster family has been working really hard with me to get this all worked out and I’m doing much better … especially if I’m not left too long without a trip outside.  My foster mom says I’m about 90% there … whatever that means!

When I meet new people, I hear them say I’m cute and sweet and playful and wiggly.  I guess those are good things because they smile a lot when they say it!  I know I can be a little rowdy sometimes, but my foster mom says it’s because I’m a terrier puppy.  I think I’m just trying to have fun playing rough and tumble with my foster pup friends.  We love to run around pretending the yard is a race track … and I’m usually out in front.  I can walk nicely on a leash with a few gentle reminders to slow down and not pull.  I like to go for walks on my leash, but I really hope my new family has a fenced yard so I can just run and play and be safe!

When I first came to my foster home I was sooooo scared of almost everything.  I was really scared when anyone tried to touch my head or neck, but I’m over all that now because I figured out most people don’t want to hurt me.  I really want to be a good boy and make you happy, but I get upset when anyone fusses at me or gets impatient with me. I’m trying so hard to learn all the rules and be the best boy ever, but I’m still a puppy.  I’m still a little unsure about kids who are loud and especially if they are running at me …. I’m not sure if they want to hurt me or not, so I get a little scared.  If they are calm and just let me come to them, and they don’t try to chase me or grab me, I do OK.

I think I’m pretty smart for a little guy.  I know where my crate is and can go right to it.  I get in my crate all by myself and wait for my treat for being a good boy.  I do know what ‘sit’ means even though sometimes it’s hard when I’m wiggly.  I think it would be fun if my new special person would take me to puppy school so I could learn more good things and I could make some new doggy friends.  I like most other doggies as long as they don’t try to hurt me.  If they do, I run.  I think I like the cats, too, but they do scare me a little.  They have things on their toes that hurt!

Another good thing about me … I’m all up-to-date on all my vet stuff for now.  I’ve had my shots and I’m neutered and microchipped.

My adoption fee is $175 and I hope you think I’m worth it.  I’m a real bundle of love and I really hope my special family finds me soon.  I love my foster family but I’d love to have a family that wants to love me forever.

If you’re my special person, please hurry and go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org and do the online Dog Adoption Application so we can get together soon!

Note from the AAMR Adoption Committee:  We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet and home visit to see if Harley picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. More questions …. email them to weluvpups@hotmail.com
