OH HAPPY DAY!  SUGAR HAS FOUND HER FAMILY AND SHE IS ONE SUPER HAPPY LITTLE GIRL! HAPPY LIFE TO SUGAR AND HER NEW FAMILY!

Hi … my name is Sugar! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.

Her name is Sugar and she lives up to that sweetness!  She was surrendered to an area shelter because the owner could no longer care for her, so AAMR brought her in to foster care to get all her vet care done and, hopefully, find the perfect family for her so she can live happily-ever-after!

Based on her cute little underbite and the tail that often curls up over her back, we think there is some pug in the mix.  Could be mixed with chihuahua, min pin or maybe even some beagle.  What we DO know for sure is that she is a good, sweet, loving little girl.  She’s still a youngster with lots of energy and lots to learn.  The good news is that she is very smart and eager to please her people.  She would be a super star in a doggy obedience class! 

Approximate age/birthdate:  July 1, 2023

Weight/size: 23 lbs (she will probably fill out to 25-28 lbs)

Housebroken:  Working on it.  She has been restricted in foster care until all immunizations are up-to-date, so she is kept on a regular potty schedule instead of having to ‘ask’ to go out.

Crate trained:  YES … she keeps her crate clean … no accidents.

Personality: happy, ok with other animals, but gravitates to people,

Energy level: she’s a youngster … energy comes with youth, but she responds well to correction and has nice inside manners

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred unless you have lots of time and energy for leash walking.  This girl needs a safe place to run off energy and play.  A tired pup is a good and happy pup!

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  She is doing well with leash walking and getting better every day

Obedience training:  Not yet but she is learning ‘sit’ and ‘off’ (so she will learn to not jump on people)

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK   

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES, will be as of April 5 2024

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats:  She is a little intimidated by cats.  We feel like she would make friends them in time, but we’re pretty sure she would enjoy chasing them if they ran from her.

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.

Adoption donation: $250

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Sugar picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
