Happy Day - April 10 2022, Harry (formerly Spike) went to his new forever home!  He is such a sweet pup and we know he is going to be well-loved by his new family!  Happy Life little man!

Hi … my name is Spike! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.

If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.

Spike is quite a lovebug/Sumo wrestler!  He and his family had a rough start, but once they got settled into foster care, life took a turn for the better.  He is such a sweet puppy, full of snuggles and kisses and curiosity and energy.  He enjoys playing with toys and his sisters, but his most favorite thing to do is eat. Best of all, he is happy and he knows he is loved.  Now all he needs is the perfect family to love him forever!

Spike looks so much like his Mom, Lacey, who is a beautiful boxer mix girl, about 40 lbs.  The male dog that was in the home that we think (based on the looks of his sisters) might be Dad, is a lab/border collie mix, also about 40 lbs.

Things Spike would love to have at his new forever home:

A physically fenced yard so he has a safe place to play and explore

A family who will commit to loving him and teaching him all the things he needs to know to be a good boy.

A family who will make him a real family member and include him in all the family fun.

Approximate age/birthdate:  Dec 8 2021

Weight/size:  Our guess is that his adult size will be around 40 lbs based on the size of his mom and the fella we think is the dad to the litter

Housebroken:  Not yet

Crate trained:  Will stay in a crate but will still go potty in the crate

Personality: Sweet, friendly, snuggly, playful, curious, ready to explore

Energy level:  typical puppy … full speed to sound asleep in a minute

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred so he has a safe place to play outside.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  Just learning to walk on leash.  Youngsters should always wear a harness rather than just a collar to prevent damage to the trachea from pulling as they learn leash walking skills.

Obedience training:  NO … but most puppies are ready for basic obedience classes by the time they are 6-8 months old.

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  The puppies have only socialized regularly with their mom and littermates.  They seem to be interested in their foster friends, but a little intimidated by them.  They will interact with more of the other pups as all their puppy shots are completed.

Social with cats: Have not met any cats yet!

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.

Adoption donation: $250

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Spike picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
