About Levi

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black

Levi has left AAMR and moved on to his new forever family!  April 10 2022 was a special day for him and he is one lucky boy!  Happy Life sweet Levi!

Hi … my name is Levi! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.

If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.

Levi is a super handsome young lab mix boy who is full of love and energy.  He is an absolute joy to be around and will be a great addition to some lucky family!  Our guess, just from looking at his body type, is that he might have some beagle in the gene pool.  Whatever the mix, he is extra sweet and super smart! His play style with his new foster friends is still a bit rough and tumble. He is definitely an attention hog and he loves being with people even more than having playmates. And he loves to find sticks and carry them around - a true retriever! If you need a running buddy, he could be your guy!  If you’re looking for a great exercise program for your arms and torso, he could be your guy … he still likes to pull a little when leash walking - but he is getting better!  When he finds a person willing to work with him and be consistent with him, he will be a well-trained boy in no time.  He is such a smart boy and he really wants his people to be happy!

Levi is one of the lucky pups who has been loved his entire life, but due to no fault of his, he found himself in need of a new home, and AAMR is lucky to be his transitional home.  Now we are looking for the perfect new family for him.  He would love to have a fenced yard to run and play in, and, either two-legged or four-legged playmates (or both).  He is young and still an active boy, and he would love to be included in family activities.  He definitely deserves some special people in his life to love him forever.  Could that be you?

Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~ 7/30/2020

Weight/size: 45-50 lbs

Housebroken:  YES

Crate trained:  YES (although he will protest loudly if he really doesn’t want to be crated.  Once he understands the routine and knows when crate time is expected, he is good.)

Personality: happy, playful, loving, smart

Energy level:  high/medium high … he’s still young and rowdy but if he gets enough exercise outside, he knows how to settle inside

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred!  He is used to being leash walked but having the fenced yard for him to run in will help burn off some of the energy!  Without a fenced yard, someone will need to commit to run/walk with him every day for his physical and mental health.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  He is getting better every day, especially if he has had a good run around the yard before his walk. He should always be walked with a harness instead of just a collar to avoid possible trachea injury.

Obedience training:  NO and he would definitely benefit from an obedience class.  Taking a class with your new dog is a great bonding experience and benefits both of you.

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES but more ‘settled’ dogs may not be tolerant of his exuberance.  His play style is still a little rowdy, but he is learning better manners.

Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care but our guess is that he would chase them and might hurt them just being rowdy.  No cats would be preferred.

Good with children:  Has not been around children in foster care but we think he would enjoy kind, respectful, older (10 yrs and older) children who would play with him.  Younger children will be overwhelmed by his energy.

Adoption donation:  $225

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Levi picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
