Sunday Nov 28 2021 was a true day of Thanksgiving for Chewy!  He met his new Mom and Dad and his four-legged brother ... and he started his happily-ever-after!  Love to you sweet Chewy!

Chewy is such a good boy and he is Mr. Personality.  We're not even sure of the breed mix, but would love to have a DNA test done to find out.  He sure is handsome and has a beautiful coat!

We don’t know anything about his past because we picked him up at ‘doggy jail,’ but we have learned that he enjoys running around inside the fenced yard, having doggy playmates, and snuggling with people!  If you ask him to go to his crate, he will go in right away and sit patiently waiting for a treat.  He loves having a routine where he knows exactly what you expect of him. He is so sweet, but be warned … he has a ‘big boy bark’ when he gets excited!  That 'big boy bark' makes him a poor fit for living in an apartment/condo/townhouse/duplex sort of situation.  Your neighbors would not be happy.  He can get pretty loud, especially when left alone.  He is so handsome, and he would love for his new person to go with him to a fun obedience class so he could shine!

Chewy is going to bring so much joy to the lucky family who adopts him, but they better be ready for lots of love and snuggles!  He is such a great pup!

Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and get him outside on a regular schedule

Crate trained:  YES

Personality:  happy, playful, loving, sweet, social

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:   Yes, please.  He loves to run around and explore and he can’t do this without a fenced yard. Chewy should never be outside a fenced area without a leash.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  YES … but he will pull some when he sees something he needs to investigate.

Obedience training:  NO but he is so smart.  He would be a star in an obedience class

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK     

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES

Social with cats:  Has not been around cats in foster home but he is so playful, we think he would be happy to chase any cat that would run from him.  Cats might be happier without him.

Good with children:  Respectful, calm children ages 10 and up will be the best fit for him

Adoption donation:  $200

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Chewy picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
