HAPPY DAY FOR OUR SWEET HAPPY BOY WHISKEY!  HE NOW HAS A GREAT FAMILY TO LOVE HIM AND HE HAS A FUR-SISTER, DAISY, TOO!

Hi … my name is Whiskey and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to
www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.
Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.

Look at that face ... those ears ... Whiskey is an adorable basset hound mix and is just a ball of energy wrapped in fur.  He is so happy and sweet and has so much love to give to whoever chooses to be his forever person or family.

Are you looking for a pup to have some fun with? Are you looking for a pup who could be great at agility or flyball or some other doggy sport? Whiskey could be the boy for you!

This boy is just precious and energetic and he wants to make his person happy. He is so very smart ... he learned 'sit,' 'down' and 'shake' in one 15 minute session. He is a lot for many people, but he is a lot of love and fun for the right people! He needs people who are active and who are willing to teach him and challenge his thinking skills to keep him busy and happy! This is not your great-grandpa's layin-on-the-front-porch pup, but he is a joyful hound.
He is ready to learn and needs a family to include him in activities … not leave him home alone.  This handsome boy will be a great addition to some lucky family … could it be yours?

Approximate age/birthdate:  January 15, 2019

Weight/size: 35 lbs

Housebroken:  Yes, as long as you do your part and take him out often.

Crate trained:  YES and seldom has accidents in crate. He is not happiest crated, but he will do it when needed!

Personality: happy, playful, energetic, sweet puppy, busy, vocal.  He will not be a good apartment or townhouse dweller because he does like to 'talk.'

Energy level:  medium when he gets plenty of exercise, high when he does not

Fenced yard required?:   YES … he is a hound and he will follow his nose to places he should not be.  He needs a safe place to explore and play and run off-leash.  PHYSICAL FENCE, NO EXCEPTIONS

Does he/she jump fences?  NOT SO FAR ... but he probably could.  He can jump a 30" baby gate inside the house with no effort.

Leash walk with manners:  Learning and getting better daily. He doesn't mind a harness and leash, but he is always in a hurry.

Obedience training:  Is very treat-motivated and has learned "sit," "down," and "shake" is a short, 15-minute session. When he has gotten his zoomies out of his system, he listens well.  Hope his new person will take him to an obedience class … and he will be a rock star!

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES … he is always happy to find someone to play with.  Senior and more settled pups sometimes find him annoying!  His puppy play style is still a little rough but is getting better.

Social with cats:  We are sure he would love to chase cats.  We are not sure what he would do if he caught one!  Better to err on the side of caution with NO CATS

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  His energy (along with his size) may be too much for younger children.  When we have taken him to Petco for events, he has seemed to like children (and everyone else, too.)

Adoption donation:  $175

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Whiskey picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
