About Juliet

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Brown/Chocolate with Black

Hi … my name is Juliet! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.

If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.

Oh sweet Juliet!  What a sweet girl she is.  A few years ago, a neighbor and friend of AAMR was planning to adopt a senior greyhound, and when he got there to pick up the greyhound, they told him that the greyhound had a ‘friend’ that he was ‘bonded’ with.  Needless to say, they talked him into taking both the greyhound (who he named Romeo) and Miss Juliet.  Sadly, this Good Samaritan reached a point where he could no longer care for his dogs.  Romeo went to a friend who runs a greyhound rescue and Miss Juliet came to AAMR.  Both have handled being separated well.

Per the calendar, Juliet is hovering around ‘senior’ status, but someone has definitely forgotten to tell her.  She is mature and has nice manners, but she likes to run and romp with the best of them! She seems to be comfortable around dogs of all sizes, and in her foster home she tolerates (up to a point) a lot of bullying from a 10-lb chihuahua. The only time she gets in ‘trouble’ is when some of wild children want to romp inside the house … and she is always ready to play!

Her foster family has noticed that she does have some separation anxiety … which is understandable with the losses she has experienced.  She does not ‘do’ crates, but will tolerate a larger kennel.  Her foster family has had to board her on occasion and she has done OK.

Here is some info you need to know about sweet Juliet:

Approximate age/birthdate:  Nov 7 2013

Weight/size: 45-50 lbs

Housebroken:  YES as long as you do her part and take her out often.

Crate trained:  Does not tolerate being crated in a typical wire crate.  She does better in kennel-size confinement if needed.

Personality: a little reserved at first, can be vocal, very sweet and loving, likes to sleep in bedroom in her own bed

Energy level:  medium

Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred so she has a safe place to play and run off some energy.  She loves to get outside and explore her yard.

Does he/she jump fences?  NO

Leash walk with manners:  YES though she may get excited and try to pull some.  She does respond to correction.

Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ (especially when there is a treat involved)

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES although she can be a little dog selective.  She is more tolerant of smaller dogs.  She gets along fine with most of her larger foster friends, but if she doesn’t like them, she doesn’t seem to change her mind at any point.

Social with cats:  Has not been around cats in foster care, but she would likely chase them if given a chance.

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.

Adoption donation:  $100

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Juliet picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.

Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
