SWEET SUZY WAITED A GOOD WHILE, BUT HER PERFECT MOM FINALLY FOUND HER!  AND SHE GOT AN EXTRA BONUS ... A NEW BROTHER, DUKE!  HAPPY LIFE SASSY SUZY!

Hi … my name is Suzy! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.  If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.

Look at that adorable little fuzzy terrier face!  And the glint of terrier mischief in the eyes!  Suzy was once in doggy jail and was adopted and returned because she would run out the house door at every opportunity, into an unfenced yard. Now, if you are familiar with adorable fuzzy terriers, this probably does not surprise you at all!

This precious girl is a gem who needs a new forever owner who will love her enough to teach her manners, obedience and respect for the rules!  She is a young terrier with lots of energy that she needs to burn off every day to keep her healthy and happy.  She is super smart, and she needs some jobs to do to keep her brain busy.  Her jobs could be things like playing fetch with you, doing obedience commands like ‘sit,’ ‘down,’ and ‘come’. Suzy is a pup who is not a ‘possession’ – she is a family member who needs your time, attention, love, and guidance.  She is a work in progress and she is absolutely worth every minute you invest in her. She loves to give kisses!

Some things Suzy really needs in her new forever home:

    A secure physically fenced yard

A family with terrier experience and the commitment to help her be a ‘good girl.’  It would be great if this could include taking her to obedience classes for training and socialization.

Possibly another confident dog similar to her size and energy who can help teach her how good life can be

Approximate age/birthdate:  Jan 11 2020

Weight/size: 18 lbs

Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take her outside regularly.  Having a consistent schedule for potty breaks makes it easier for them to be successful!

Crate trained:  YES ... and she will go in willingly for a bonus treat!

Personality:  sweet, mischievous, looking for affection

Energy level:  medium/high. She does need daily exercise – brisk walks, play time in a fenced yard, play time inside.  She should never be outside a fenced area off-leash.

Fenced yard required?:  A physically fenced yard is preferred, especially with her history of viewing an open door as an invitation to go outside.  And everyone must be vigilant when opening a gate in the fenced yard.  If she sees an opportunity, she will run out the gate.  Until her recall is perfect, this is critical because it could save her life. She should not be left outside alone; she will get bored and look for an escape route.

Does he/she jump fences?  Not so far, but she is very athletic and probably could climb or jump a lower fence.

Leash walk with manners:  She is learning to leash walk and is getting better.  Her energy makes her a natural puller, so she needs proper guidance and training.

Obedience training:  NO, but she is a smart terrier girl and learns quickly and will listen well.

Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK

Spayed/neutered:   YES

Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES

Microchipped:   YES

Social with other dogs:  YES, she has been good with her foster friends, but her play style is still  rough and rowdy, so some of them don’t want to be around her. She would not be good with senior dogs of any size or very small dogs of any age.  She plays rough and tumble and needs training and supervision to curb this behavior. Proper introductions are always necessary.

Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster home, but most terriers have enough prey drive that they love to chase cats.  She would probably be better in a home with NO CATS.

Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  Her energy will probably be overwhelming for younger children, and she is active and strong enough to knock younger, smaller children over.

Adoption donation:  $200

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.

When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Suzy picks you too.

If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.
