PLEASE NOTE: ROBBIE IS A VERY SPECIAL NEEDS BOY AND HE REQUIRES A VERY SPECIAL HOME.
Here are some very important things you need to know about Robbie:
Sweet Robbie is a VERY special needs boy. He came out of a home with far too many pets to properly care for, so he lived all his life before rescue without socialization with new people and situations. He has never opened himself to the joys of snuggling and cuddling. He does not do well with changes in his life. He gets extremely anxious when you do something as simple as moving his crate ... even just a few feet. He usually listens pretty well (unless he is scared and stressed) and he will do as you ask, as long as you don't need to touch him. It has been interesting to see that he handles grooming, but he has only one groomer that he accepts with reservations.
He is cute and sweet and has the most expressive eyes. His big issue is that he is not trusting of people. He is very observant ... hardly ever barks about anything ... but he does not want to be touched, picked up or held. He is not at all aggressive, but he does require people with LOTS of patience. A physical fence is a requirement because he is ALWAYS in 'flight' mode. If he gets away, no one would ever be able to catch him.
Robbie is not a good choice for an inexperienced dog owner ... especially a first time dog owner. He does require extra effort and responsibility to keep him safe. And he is not a dog that will return any of the love you show him. If you have a big heart, lots of patience and lots of love to give ... and you are able to take on a very special needs pup ... you might just be the right one for Robbie.
If you do not feel like you can adopt and meet his special needs, you can still help him by sponsoring his extended care with tax-deductible donations. A one-time donation, or monthly or quarterly donations designated for Robbie's care will be appreciated.

If you think Robbie might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online. Please review our adoption process at http://www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/info/adoption and contact us if you have questions about the process.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your reference checks are completed and your application is tentatively approved, we will schedule a home visit and a meet-and-greet to see if Robbie picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption contract to be signed and a requested adoption donation.
Please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have additional questions.
