Jez is 45 pounds of love and enthusiasm, but a dog with issues who needs that special someone. Jez is a mix of lab and golden retriever and something else, and is about 3 years old. She was found as a stray on Route 460 in Farmville, VA. Odds are she escaped from her home during a thunderstorm, because she was sopping wet. That's issue number one: If she is left in a yard when there are loud noises, like thunder and fireworks, she is gone. Issue number two: She does resource guarding with her people against other dogs. She lives now in a household with two other dogs and sometimes gets into a tussle with one of the dogs who tries to participate in Jez's petting time. While she is fine with her canine housemates 99.9% of the time, it is best if she is an only dog. Jez does not do resource guarding with people; I can take away her favorite rawhide bone from her no problem. She loves, loves, loves being with people. She is getting better about being in a house, but there are issues with being left alone loose in the house.
If you are looking for a lovebug and have the patience and knowledge to deal with Jez's issues, please contact 434-238-5468 to discuss a possible adoption. You should also complete the AAMR online application (even though Jez is not an AAMR dog). There is an adoption fee and an adoption contract.
