Albus was one of 6 puppies rescued from a local dumpster a few months. The rescue family managed to find homes for the others, and now Albus really needs to find his new forever home. He is a very handsome lab/hound mix. He weighs about 75 lbs, but is a little thin. He is going to have a leaner hound type build. He really needs room to run and/or the company of dogs where he can run and tumble.
Albus is crate trained, accustomed to cats, horses, chickens, and electronic fencing. Housetraining is a work in progress. He is a bit timid and needs a person to help him build trust. He would make a wonderful farm dog for someone with some land or a great pet if someone didn't have to leave him alone for extremely long work days. He is great with kids and has never shown any type of aggression, even if cornered. He likes car rides and loves to play hard and fast with other dogs. He walks on a leash and knows "4 on the floor," but further obedience work is needed. His family has been walking some on the greenways in Roanoke, and Albus will quietly pass other dogs with only the lightest reminder not to run and greet them. He loves to roll and wrestle with people, but his confidence wanes when it is not "playtime."
Albus is scheduled to have his booster shots in mid-October. He has a current rabies vaccination and has been neutered. He is treated monthly with heartworm preventative and frontline.
